Richard Johnson is Managing Director & Principal, Head of Strategic Business Development at GCM, a $5 billion investment manager. Prior to joining GCM in February 2008, Mr. Johnson was the Managing Director, Head of Institutional Asset Gathering in the U.S. for Citi Alternative Investments (“CAI”). At Citi, he was responsible for the growth of CAI's Private Equity, Real Estate, Infrastructure and Hedge Fund businesses, which grew to $60 billion under management during his tenure. From October 2002 to March 2006, Mr. Johnson was Managing Director in Strategic Business Development at Stanfield Capital, during which time the overall assets of the firm grew from $8 billion to $25 billion in three years. From June 2001 to October 2002, Mr. Johnson was Managing Director at Lucerne Partners LLC and from October 1994 through March 2001 was Managing Director at ING Barings. From 1986 through 1994, Mr. Johnson held positions of increasing responsibility with several Wall Street firms, including Salomon Brothers.
